They also want to add another three years to a deal for the 18-year-old winger that already  runs until 2024.

His stunning breakthrough season has not gone unnoticed by both Real Madrid and Barcelona in Spain.

And manager Erik ten Hag is determined to end any hopes they have of tempting him back to the land of his birth with the hugely improved contract.

Garnacho currently earns about £5,000 including bonuses — yet that is set to soar after the most sensational start to life as a first-team player.

Old Trafford chiefs have been talking to the player’s representatives since late summer as they were keen to box off his future even before his headline-grabbing performances.

The club have always been quick to reward their young stars and Garnacho’s elevated first-team status means they are even more adamant to send the message that he is going nowhere.

The teenager’s stunning introduction has just earned him the supporters’ Player of the Month award with more than two-thirds of the vote.

Garnacho came through the ranks at Atletico Madrid before United snapped him up for just £420,000 in June 2021.

Over the past month he has scored a Europa League winner at Real Sociedad and a late goal at Fulham a week ago.

The Madrid-born winger played three times for Spain’s Under-18s before switching to Argentina — the country where his mother is from — in March.

He has scored four goals in five appearances for Argentina’s Under-20s, but narrowly missed out on a place in their squad for Qatar.
