MANCHESTER UNITED are convinced they will complete the capture of Ajax star Antony within the next week.
The club believe the move became live again this weekend after the player made a stance against his club in a bid to get the deal done.
The Brazilian apparently failed to turn up for training on Saturday and was left out of the matchday squad for their game against Sparta Rotterdam.
The winger wants the move pushed through with United willing to up their initial offer of £68million to around £80million.
The 22-year-old would be the fifth signing of this summer transfer window for manager Erik Ten Hag.
This weekend they completed the £70million capture of Real Madrid defensive midfielder Casemiro.

They had already landed left back Tyrell Malacia, centre back Lisandro Martinez and attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen.
Ten Hag had been urging the board to get more players in recently after losing their opening two games of the season.
PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo was targeted with reports claiming United were set to seal a £34million deal.
Ten Hag is also having to deal with Cristiano Ronaldo’s situation, with the legendary forward seeking a move away from the club.

However, Antony is convinced United’s fortunes will change under the Dutchman.
He said on Ten Hag: “Manchester United will improve at his hand. At his previous clubs, he has proven that his method works.
“Erik has been super important to me. I am grateful to him and I will always cheer for Erik after working so closely together.
“I have not been able to celebrate or cheer for him as he got no points yet.
“I couldn’t until now anyway and that makes me sad. But knowing Erik, I am convinced that he will turn the tide soon.”
