The goal, Ronaldo’s first in the Prem this season, earned United a precious 2-1 victory over the in-form Toffees.

But the Red Devils weren’t about to forget its extra individual significance to Ronaldo.

After the game, the 37-year-old was greeted in the dressing room by giant balloons forming the number “700”.

United also presented him with a special jersey with “Ronaldo 700” on the back.

He wrote: “Great win guys! Another step in the right direction! #WeStandUnited”

After the match, boss Erik ten Hag hailed his experienced striker.

He said: “That is really impressive, when you score 700 goals, it’s a huge performance.

“I’m really happy for him, I congratulate him on that performance and I’m also happy it’s his first goal this season in the Premier League – he had to wait for it and I’m sure there will be more goals.”

Of Ronaldo’s 700 club goals – 144 have come for Man United.

A whopping 450 were for Real Madrid, while he notched 101 for Juventus.

The first five came while playing for first club Sporting Lisbon in Portugal – and he has also bagged 117 for Portugal.
