LEGENDARY manager Marcelo Bielsa is reportedly expected to become the new Uruguay boss.
The 67-year-old Argentine coach has been out of work since Leeds sacked him back in February amid concerns they may be relegated from the Premier League – a feat they narrowly avoided following the appointment of Jesse Marsch.
In the summer, Bielsa, who guided Leeds back to the top flight after 16 years away, was linked with a return to Athletic Bilbao but a deal never materialised.
And he then turned down a move to Brazilian side Santos in September.
But now he is set to be given a third shot at international management with World Cup failures Uruguay.
Diego Alonso’s men were eliminated in the group stage on Friday after an extraordinary finish to both matches.

Uruguay thought a 2-0 win over Ghana would be enough to take them into the last 16.
But a stoppage-time goal from South Korea’s Hwang Hee-chan gave them a 2-1 victory over Portugal – a result which ended up sending Uruguay out on goals scored.
Manager Alonso’s days are now thought to be numbered with the national team.
And TYC Sports are reporting that Bielsa will be his replacement as they hand him the task of trying to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

The former Leeds boss has previously coached Argentina and Chile at major tournaments.
He was in charge of Argentina for six years, leading them to the final of the 2004 Copa America, before they were beaten on penalties by Brazil.
Three years later, he then took over at Chile where he remained until 2011.
Bielsa guided them to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and they were eliminated by Brazil in the last 16.
