KIERAN TIERNEY has given Scotland fans reason to be optimistic about his recovery, as he revealed his knee operation went smoothly.
The Arsenal star needed surgery on an injury picked up while on international duty for Steve Clarke’s side and it’s feared his season could be over.
Kieran Tierney shared a snap on his Instagram account post-surgery He’ll miss the Gunners’ Premier League run-in as they chase a Champions League spot and is also likely to be unavailable for Scotland’s World Cup play-off matches and Nations League ties in June.
Former Celtic ace Tierney, 24, has been earmarked as a potential future Arsenal captain.
He’s also one of the most important and influential members of Clarke’s squad.
His absence is therefore a bitter blow to both camps but there is some good news.

Tierney recently scored his first goal for Scotland in the 1-1 draw with Poland at Hampden.
He’s been in top form when fit for both club and country and has even caught the eye of Real Madrid, who are believed to be considering the Scot as an option to provide competition for Ferland Mendy and replace the long-serving Marcelo.
Elsewhere, a Scottish contestant on The Chase answered a huge Celtic question WRONG – leaving host Bradley Walsh stunned.
Margo, from Fife, was in the middle of her cash builder round with the veteran presenter when she was quizzed about the Celtic Park side.
The 53-year-old managing director had £2,000 in the pot when Bradley asked her who was the first British team to win the European Cup (in 1967).
Margo incorrectly guessed that it was Manchester United.
In disbelief, Walsh told her: “Glasgow Celtic!”
She replied: “No!”
But she defended herself by asserting she doesn’t follow football.
She said: “I’m not a football fan, see that’s the thing.”
But Walsh, 61, was still shocked as he went on to describe the Lisbon Lions’ triumph as “the most famous ever, ever European Cup win”.
