Kasper Schmeichel BOOED by own Nice fans as ex-Leicester keeper considers quitting in January just six months after move

NICE keeper Kasper Schmeichel was booed by his OWN fans ahead of their clash with Nantes on Sunday evening.

The Dane, 35, left Leicester to join the French outfit in the summer after more than a decade at the King Power Stadium.

But he has endured a nightmare first few months at the club.

And when his name was read out before their home match with Nantes, the shot-stopper was booed by his own supporters.

They then proceeded to cheer substitute keeper Marcin Bulka.

Nice went on to draw the game 1-1 as a stoppage-time penalty from Arsenal loanee Nicolas Pepe salvaged a point.

Schmeichel has played 10 of Nice’s 12 Ligue 1 matches so far this season.

But a report from L’Equipe earlier this month claimed Schmeichel is already considering leaving in the January window.

He is reported to have showed a “lack of professionalism” at the club, warming up very little and isolating himself from the rest of the squad during training.

There are also concerns about how he has adapted to Nice’s style of play.

At Leicester, he was used to playing behind a deeper defensive structure.

But Nice manager Lucien Favre is keen to play a high line, with Schmeichel’s ability to cover the distance in between being called into question.

The Denmark shot-stopper enjoyed a superb 11 years at Leicester.

He played 479 games for the club, winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Championship.

He has also been capped 86 times for Denmark, reaching the semi-finals of last year’s Euros and claiming the Danish Player of the Year award on four occasions.
