MANCHESTER UNITED winger Jadon Sancho has lifted the lid on Erik ten Hag’s “intense” training sessions.
The no-nonsense Dutch manager enforces physical punishment for mistakes made at the club’s Carrington HQ.
During pre-season it was revealed Ten Hag made players do push-ups in training if their team conceded a goal.
And Sancho has confirmed that United’s attackers have the forfeit of five push-ups if the defenders score against them in the classic game of attack vs defence.
With back-to-back defeats to Brighton and Brentford to start the campaign, Ten Hag’s methods are yet to come to fruition.
But Sancho told Premier League Productions on the boss: “He is definitely intense, as you can see in the pre-season.

“Let’s say we do attack vs defence and the defence score, the attackers have to do five press ups.
“He is assuring us that some things are not allowed – especially in transition play. We are all taking that in and we are taking it in well.”
Sancho also revealed that Ten Hag sees team bonding as one of the keys to success.
Although team harmony is proving to be difficult at the moment, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s situation sure to be playing a part.

Ten Hag and the players are open to seeing Ronaldo leave, while the Glazers want to keep the wantaway star.
Speaking further on Ten Hag’s methods, Sancho said: “That’s just how he operates. He’s brought what he was doing at Ajax here, and he’s the manager so we have to respect what he wants.
“One of his big things when he was coming in was team bonding. I think everyone is working well together.
“The chemistry within the team is very important, everyone has to be happy within themselves and interact with each other, especially on and off the pitch.
“It plays a key part, that will take time and hopefully it will come good.”
