A PERSONAL trainer who dated Rangers star Calvin Bassey has told how the £25million-rated defender isn’t your typical footballer.
Molly Godfrey, who also played field hockey internationally for Scotland, started a relationship with the Nigerian international after he slid into her DMs on Instagram.
The pair quickly hit it off after the 22-year-old ace’s arrival in Glasgow from Leicester City and Molly loved his sense of humour.
Although their romance never stood the test of time, she isn’t surprised that her former flame is being linked with moves to top Premier League sides after man of the match performances in both the Europa League and Scottish Cup finals recently.
Molly, who appeared on the most recent season of Geordie Shore, says: “He’s a really lovely boy who had big dreams to play with Rangers and break into the first team.
“Calvin and I used to love just having a laugh together and people may or may not know this but he is a terrible singer and even worse dancer – which made him even funnier.
“He’s not your typical footballer as he was a bit shy around new people.
“But all of my friends loved him too as he always had a big smile on his face and was just great fun to be around.”
Paisley-based Molly, 25, adds: “We slowly grew apart and I decided to go on Geordie Shore and he decided to focus on his football therefore we decided to part ways mutually.
“I think he’s a great asset to Scottish football with an incredible future at his fingertips.

“He is a true diamond of a boy. Anyone would be lucky to be with him.”
Meanwhile, former Rangers and Celtic striker Kenny Miller reckons Bassey can replicate Kieran Tierney when it comes to club record transfers.
But while he stopped short of saying Bassey as a player can be compared to Tierney but as a prospect, he thinks his performances have earned him a hefty price tag that he says Ibrox chiefs must stick to.
He told Clyde1’s Superscoreboard: “You have to be starting at £15m minimum.
“I think that’s the going rate.
“I’m not suggesting that he’s achieved the same amount as Kieran Tierney because Kieran played for a number of years at Celtic and won all kinds of trophies and performed at Champions League level, Europa League level and international level also.
“But Calvin Bassey has the potential – and I’m not saying he’s better, I’ll reiterate that – but from the level of performances we’ve seen, to get £25m (for Tierney) and let Bassey go for £10m or £12m, no, I think you’re looking at a record bid to let him go.”
