‘Go smash it king’ – Marcus Rashford replies to Kylian Mbappe after France star’s praise amid PSG transfer rumours

MARCUS RASHFORD has sent a message to Kylian Mbappe just days after France knocked England out of the World Cup.

The Three Lions crashed out after a 2-1 defeat to the holders on Saturday.

Rashford was introduced late in the second half, but could do nothing to force extra-time, although his last-gasp free-kick almost did exactly that.

The Manchester United ace started just once in the tournament, but was still England’s joint-top scorer alongside Bukayo Saka.

Nevertheless, it was more heartache for Rashford, 17 months after his penalty miss in the Euros final.

On Instagram, he said: “The last few weeks have been a rollercoaster of emotions, each and every one of our team gave everything we had to be ready for what was thrown at us, we got close, but not close enough.

“I’ll make a promise that we will come again! Thank you for the unconditional support we have received throughout the tournament, it hasn’t gone unnoticed.

Rashford’s post was liked more than 1million times, while more than 20,000 comments were left.

One of those was from Mbappe, who sent him a heart emoji.

Rashford responded with a message that said: “Good luck with the rest of the tournament brother! Go smash it king.”

Mbappe failed to impress against England, but is still leading the Golden Boot race and will be hoping to add to his five goals against Morocco in the semi-finals.

The exchange comes with Rashford linked with a move to PSG despite United being on the cusp of triggering a one-year clause in his contract.

The 25-year-old has thrived under Erik ten Hag, scoring three more goals than the whole of last season, while also winning his England place back.

His form has led to the Dutchman claiming that he could make Rashford the best striker in the world and EVEN surpass Mbappe.
