GARY NEVILLE says Manchester United should stick to their plan of replacing Ralf Rangnick as manager next season despite their improved form.
The Red Devils are in the Champions League spots after picking up 15 points from the last 21 available under their interim German boss.
Rangnick, 63, was named caretaker gaffer in November with an agreement in place for him to remain at the club in a consultancy role for two years once a permanent manager is appointed at the end of the season.
But Sunday’s exciting 4-2 win over big rivals Leeds now has United leading a competitive chase for fourth in the Prem and added to the feeling he could get the manager’s job on a full-time basis.
However, Red Devils legend Neville, 47, said on his podcast the club should stick to their original plan.
The former England right-back said: “I don’t think he gets the job at the end of the season come what may now.
“I think maybe there was a feeling if United went like that [dramatically improved results] then that would happen.
“But it isn’t going to happen and Manchester United will have a new manager next season.”

Neville added: “People say he is a sporting director and a coach, but the reality is that his position as a coach is short-term.
“His position assisting the club, constructing their new methodology and structure moving forward, is a longer-term position for two years.
“I’d rather him get that bit right and suffer in the short-term for the longer-term perspective being right.”
United have reportedly ‘started the process’ to appoint their new permanent manager, according to The Athletic.
PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax chief Erik ten Hag are understood to be ‘among the options’ for the top job at Old Trafford.
