SADIO MANE made a beeline to console Mo Salah after smashing in the winning penalty of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The tournament built up to the ultimate final showdown between the two Liverpool heroes on Sunday night.
Mane was Senegal’s hero, recovering from missing his early penalty to sink the pivotal spot-kick.
But after the pile-on celebrations marking the West African nation’s first Afcon win, the classy Reds No10 went and found the heartbroken Reds No11 to give him a hug.
On Thursday night at Anfield – or Sunday afternoon at Turf Moor – they may well be celebrating together again as Liverpool take on Leicester and then Burnley in the Premier League.

Jorginho vs Mount
Last summer, Jorginho and Mason Mount lined up together as Chelsea lifted the Champions Leageue.
But six weeks later they were on opposite sides as Jorginho’s Italy – who also had Emerson Palmieri – and Mount’s England reached the Euro 2020 final.

Ahead of the game, the Englishman said: “He’s a very nice guy and someone I spend a lot of time with but I’m going to be playing against him and we’re not team-mates anymore.”
Mount got the first strike as Luke Shaw put the Three Lions ahead at Wembley but Jorginho enjoyed the last laugh after penalties – despite his miss from 12 yards.
Di Maria vs Neymar
The Argentine clan at PSG had the bragging rights when they returned for pre-season at the beginning of the current campaign.
That it because Angel Di Maria – as well as Leandro Paredes and new-signing Lionel Messi – beat Neymar’s Brazil in the Copa America final.
The ex-Manchester United flop got the only goal of the game.
And Neymar jokingly swore at the trio after Paredes posted a photo of them with the trophy.
Varane vs Modric and Kovacic
Real Madrid had just won their 13th Champions League title when France met Croatia in the 2018 World Cup final in Moscow.
Then-Los Blancos defender Raphael Varane took on Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic and came out on top in a 4-2 win.
There were also club pals on opposite sides with Barcelona duo Samuel Umtiti and Ivan Rakitic as well as Atletico Madrid trio Antoine Griezmann, Lucas Hernandez and Sime Vrsaljko.
Fabregas vs Van Persie
Both players had somewhat acrimonious departures from the Emirates – one more so than the other – but Arsenal fans were split for the 2010 World Cup final.
Spaniard Cesc Fabregas on one side with Robin van Persie and ex-Gunners ace Giovanni van Bronckhorst on the other for the Netherlands.
And it was Fabregas who made the difference, setting up Andres Iniesta for the famous winner.
Buffon vs Trezeguet
The 2006 World Cup final will forever be remembered for ex-Juventus ace Zinedine Zidane’s headbutt the final act of his career.
But it was two Juve stars who were going head to head during extra-time.
Gianluigi Buffon in goal for Italy and 100th-minute substitute David Trezeguet replacing Franck Ribery for France.
The legendary goalkeeper certainly won this battle as the striker’s penalty was the only miss of the shootout, crashing his effort against the underside of the bar.
