JURGEN KLOPP has been mocked for claiming Liverpool “should have won” – after Manchester United finally and spectacularly picked up their first points and plaudits of the Erik ten Hag reign.
But at least social media agreed with Reds’ boss Klopp when he admitted his opinion “sounds ridiculous” following the 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.
Mo Salah’s header amid late pressure couldn’t prevent United triumphing after Jadon Sancho, brilliantly, and Marcus Rashford, calmly, struck.
But although Klopp admitted Liverpool’s display “wasn’t good enough” he also told Sky Sports: “We should have won this game. I know it sounds ridiculous but that is how I saw it.
“When we calmed down we have extreme number of shots for an away game at United.
“David de Gea made a fantastic save. If you score then the game turns then we did not have enough time or power in the end.”

But that opinion stunned fans more even a vastly-improved United performance that deflected attention from fans’ protests over club owners the Glazers.
One said: “Klopp said Liverpool should have won the game (followed by laughing emojis). And I thought AJ lost the plot on Saturday.”
Another argued: “Klopp’s book of excuses is running a bit dry now isn’t it.”
And a third posted: “Lmao Klopp Klopping as usual.”

Some Liverpool supporters suggested their troubling start to the season of two points in three games has exposed weaknesses in the squad.
One tweeted: “Klopp needs to man up and demand money for a new midfield.. we need 2 players not 1, with RB cover and another striker.. we have 3 starters injured Konate, Thiago, Jota.
“Rest are squad players not starters.. we need team players not squad players.”
Despite feeling aggrieved at Liverpool failing to win, Klopp also revealed he had expected United’s positive and “aggressive” start.
And he accepted that once his side were chasing the game United made it “difficult with their counter-attacking threat”.
‘TRICKY SITUATION’
He said: “When you are in a game like this fighting, these guys talk to each other and on the pitch it is a different conversation.
“It was not a perfect performance, it was clear United would get out of the blocks but we were not 100% ready.
“The second goal is hard to take, it was offside, but we have to work with it.
“We are in a tricky situation injury wise, we got through the week with 14, 15 senior players available and now have to make sure they don’t get injured.
“I am concerned about our situation, but that is how it is. We prepare for Bournemouth and Newcastle now.”
