Fans are all saying the same thing about Southampton’s pitch for Premier League clash at home to Chelsea

FOOTBALL supporters cannot believe the state of Southampton’s pitch as they took to Twitter to ridicule the turf.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side welcomed Chelsea to St Mary’s on Tuesday night, but the quality of the play wasn’t what sent social media into a meltdown.

Forget Raheem Sterling’s 23rd minute opener or Romeo Lavia’s incredible equaliser.

Twitter users went crazy over the south coast side’s pitch during their 2-1 victory.

Fans couldn’t take their eyes off of the poor quality, with Sky Sports pundit Michael Dawson claiming it “has a disease”.

One supporter posted: “How is Southampton’s pitch so bad at this time of the year?”

A third added: “I like that the St Mary’s pitch is disease-ridden. Hopefully ties into the notion that Southampton ‘is a tough place to go’.”

This fan then remarked: “I don’t think I have ever seen a pitch in worse condition in August than Southampton.”

One then commented: “That pitch at Southampton looks in bad shape. What’s the problem.”
