IAN WRIGHT has been hailed a “national treasure” by fans after wearing a pink polo shirt on Match of the Day.
His wardrobe choice came after Alan Sugar hit out at Arsenal’s pink third kit and questioned whether Wright would have played in the colour.
During the Gunners’ 2-0 win at Crystal Palace on Friday, Spurs fan Sugar tweeted: “Pink shirts! I wonder if @IanWright0 would have played in a pink shirt.”
Sugar, 75, soon came under fire for his remark online.
But Wright responded in perfect fashion by donning a stylish pink number for the opening Match of the Day of the season.
The 58-year-old Arsenal legend also said on the show: “Real men can wear pink.”

And fans have all been loving Wright’s deliberate choice of clothing.
The ex-striker has been hailed as a “national treasure” and a “hero” for his response to Sugar’s tweet.
One wrote on social media about the shirt: “Reason 53582 to love Ian Wright.”
Another said: “There is nobody better than @IanWright0.”

Wright and Sugar were involved in a feud last month after the latter suggested he should complain about the lack of male commentators at the Women’s Euros.
The former Gunner blasted businessman Sugar when he took to social media again saying he was “pleased” Wright had been “given the opportunity” to be on the punditry team.
Wright fumed in a video response: “It’s doing my head in, I can’t believe it.
“Alan, the thing is my friend, rather than just say ‘I got it wrong, lots of men are working at all levels of the tournament’, you doubled down on some complete f***ing foolishness.
“So in your mind you actually thought after you sent that tweet that the BBC phoned me up, never mind the fact that we’ve been ready to do this for a year, I’ve been booked for a year.”
