SCOTT MCTOMINAY somehow escaped a red card for a horror challenge on Moises Caicedo at Old Trafford.
The Manchester United star was booked for a studs-up lunge on the Brighton midfielder.
McTominay did get a foot on the ball as he made the tackle – but a nasty follow through saw him make contact with Caicedo.
The Seagulls ace was left in a heap on the floor after being on the wrong end of the challenge.
VAR decided referee Paul Tierney had not made a clear and obvious error by only brandishing a yellow card.
But fans on social media have been left baffled as to how the United midfielder was not sent off.

One wrote on social media: “Its a red.”
Another added: “Definitely a red card.”
While a third disbelieving fan fumed: “How’s that not a red?
United were booed off by the home fans after a miserable opening 45 minutes to the campaign.

And it could have been worse for the Dutchman if McTominay had seen red for his rash challenge.
