SERGINO DEST has reportedly chosen to join Manchester United with new boss Erik ten Hag keen to seal a transfer – but the board is split on the move.
The American right-back, 21, is surplus to requirements at Barcelona and could be allowed to leave the Camp Nou permanently or on loan.
Spanish side Villarreal submitted a loan proposal, but there are concerns over whether they will be able to pay Dest’s salary.
Man Utd are also interested in signing the pacey full-back, who worked with Ten Hag at Ajax.
And according to Sport, Dest has chosen to join Man Utd if they can agree terms with Barca.
Such a move would allow Aaron Wan-Bissaka to leave the club with West Ham and former club Crystal Palace keen on acquiring his services.
However, Jonas Hen Shrag reports there is some reluctance within the club to let Wan-Bissaka leave – which could hinder United’s chances on signing Dest.
Wan-Bissaka joined Man Utd three years ago for £50m.
The right-back has made 127 appearances for the club but has found himself benched this season.
Wan-Bissaka has played once in the Premier League, with that appearance coming in the 2-1 win over Liverpool.
