Dele Alli transfer could end up costing Everton £30m with add-ons.. but Tottenham will not receive full windfall

DELI ALLI could reportedly end up costing Everton a hefty £30million – but his former club Tottenham won’t receive it all.

Instead, the Lilywhites will have to give the MK Dons – who they brought Alli from for £5m in 2015 – 20 per cent of the midfielder’s sell-on fee, according to The Athletic.

The Dons inserted the clause into Alli’s transfer when he made the switch to North London seven years ago.

And after the 25-year-old moved to the Toffees in January’s transfer window, the League One side are in line to receive a whopping £6m.

But they’ll have to wait a while to get their hands on the tidy amount as the Toffees didn’t spend a penny upfront on Alli’s transfer.

Instead, Frank Lampard’s side hashed out an agreement with Spurs that will see the White Hart Lane outfit receive the £30m incrementally.

A swath of clauses will kick in at various stages of the deal, with Spurs receiving the first chunk of £10m after Dele has made 20 appearances for the Toffees.

And although the Dons will surely be grateful for the extra cash when it finally comes in – they’ll be kicking themselves that Alli didn’t command a larger fee.

The club’s top brass must’ve been watching in horror as the former England international’s stock plummeted over recent years.

At the peak of his career, Alli was one of the most sought-after players in the country – worth a staggering £100m at minimum – and he was revered by his football peers like Manchester United ace Paul Pogba.

There was even a time when Spurs could’ve demanded £150m for the centre-midfielder – with clubs such as Premier League titans Man City interested in signing him.

But in a dismal twist of fate, the ex-Spurs outcast could only spark interest from teams like Turkish minnows Adana Demirspor and Prem relegation battlers Newcastle in recent times.

Both sides were also keen on signing Alli in January before he opted to join Lampard’s Toffees revolution along with Man United fringe player Donny van de Beek.
