MANCHESTER UNITED forward Cristiano Ronaldo got caught in a ‘wrestling match’ with Aston Villa’s Tyrone Mings at Villa Park this afternoon, sparking a huge melee.
The Portugal skipper, 37, came to blows with Mings while United were on the attack.
He attempted to hold off the England defender in a bid to create some space, but the pair became tangled in the process.
Ronaldo eventually wrestled Mings to the ground, sparking outrage from the Villa players who were quick to swarm him.
Following a VAR check for violent conduct, both players were shown a yellow card by referee Anthony Taylor.
Fans took to Twitter to react, with one person writing: “Mings got dropped so bad.”

Another added: “Mings making sure Ronaldo knows no means no, as usual he didn’t take well to that news.”
A third said: “Ronaldo should try his chance in wrestling after he retires!”
While a fourth joked: “Ronaldo can come out of Mings’ pocket now if he wants.”
Ronaldo was named United captain for the first time under Erik ten Hag before the game.

Ten Hag revealed that he handed him the armband because he is a natural leader.
The Dutchman told Sky Sports: “Nothing changed, when you are captain and leader you have to set an example and that is what I expect from him.
“He is an important part of the squad, we are happy with him and now he has to take even more of the leader role.”
Aston Villa went on to win the game 3-1 thanks to goals from Leon Bailey, Lucas Digne and Jacob Ramsey.
