Cody Gakpo refuses to get on private jet to Leeds as he snubs transfer at last minute to stay at PSV Eindhoven


PSV EINDHOVEN star Cody Gakpo has refused to get on a plane to Leeds, according to reports.

A private jet was waiting for the winger to take him to Leeds Bradford Airport but he has chosen not to board the plane and stay at PSV instead, reports journalist Rik Elfrink.

The 23-year-old has been the subject of interest from a number of Premier League clubs late on in the window.

Manchester United explored the possibility of signing him when a deal for Ajax attacker Antony proved difficult.

Southampton were also keen and rumours had suggested they agreed a £34million fee with the Dutch club.

Leeds chief Victor Orta recently travelled to Holland to try to negotiate the transfer but Gakpo has turned them down.

The seven-time capped Netherlands ace has been in incredible form this season.

In just nine matches he has netted seven goals and six assists.

He is on track to better his tally from last season of 21 goals and 15 assists.

Gakpo is hoping to make Louis van Gaal’s squad for the World Cup at the end of this year and may have been concerned a move away to a team where he is not settled could jeopardise his place.

He would be in competition with the likes of Jack Harrison for a place in the starting XI and he has been in fantastic form.

Leeds boss Jesse Marsch confirmed after his side’s draw to Everton that they are hoping to do business on deadline day.

The American confirmed that Wolves striker Hwang Hee-chan is of interest due to the pair working together at RB Leipzig before.
