But the German remained faithful to the Blues by rejecting a return to his homeland.
Sport Bild claims Bayern turned to Havertz after losing Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona.
Despite landing Sadio Mane from Liverpool, club chiefs remained desperate to find someone capable of filling the No9 role.
Bayern were strongly linked with a move for Tottenham star and England captain Harry Kane.
But he remained committed to Antonio Conte’s project for this season.

Bayern eventually turned to Havertz, despite him netting just 14 times in all competitions last term.
The 23-year-old was more prolific during his time at Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 38 goals in his final two years.
And Allianz Arena chiefs felt Havertz ticked all the right boxes for Julian Nagelsmann’s fluid system.
But despite seeing compatriot Timo Werner leave Chelsea for a return to RB Leipzig, Havertz opted to stay put.

He has since found himself utilised as a squad player under Graham Potter, scoring three times in 15 games.
Havertz’s latest proved to be Chelsea’s winner against RB Salzburg on Tuesday.
And he will be hoping for another start when the Blues travel to Potter’s former side Brighton on Saturday.
