And the Gran Canaria club hope they can convince the 110-cap Spain international to join them – because he worked with several of their coaching staff while in Barcelona’s academy.
Their home island lies 800 miles south of the Spanish mainland.
Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez told broadcasters Onda Cero: “The chances of Cesc joining us are 40 per cent. He has behaved like a gentleman in his talks with us.

Fabregas helped Spain win the 2010 World Cup, as well as the Euro 2008 and 2012 titles.
