ROBERT PAGE has the backing of Wales’ senior players to lead them at the 2022 World Cup if they qualify.

And Sunsport understands the Dragons interim boss has admirers at managerless Premier League outfit Burnley following his success at international level.

Page has lost just four of his 21 matches in charge of Wales since he took over from Ryan Giggs.

Page’s impressive record since Giggs’ arrest in November 2020 has already won the support of ex-players such as John Hartson.

The former striker revealed last month that the 41-cap defender should be given the job full-time if they reach Qatar – regardless of the outcome from Giggs’ court case.

On top of that, the majority of Wales fans, known as the ‘Red Wall’, also want Page to remain in charge.

Page was in charge when Wales reached the knockout stages at Euro 2020, won promotion to the top of the Nations League which starts this summer as well as reaching the World Cup play-off final against Scotland or Ukraine.

After Gareth Bale’s heroics to beat Austria 2-1 in March’s semi-final, the June 5 clash in Cardiff means Wales and Page are just one match away from making history and booking a first World Cup appearance in 64 years.
