RANGERS have secured an incredible 4-2 victory at Borussia Dortmund.
James Tavernier netted a penalty after a handball from the hosts, before Alfredo Morelos doubled the advantage.
John Lundstram then fired in a third after a brilliant run from Ryan Kent but Jude Bellingham scored a fantastic strike to get Dortmund back in the game.
However, Rangers went straight down the other end and netted another goal as Akanji fired into his own net.
But Raphael Guerreiro netted the goal of the night to put Dortmund back in the tie.
The Gers were handed a mega boost before the match with Erling Haaland ruled out.

Rangers go into the second leg of this fixture with a two goal lead after stunning Borussia Dortmund in a 4-2 thriller.
This evening’s result will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the Light Blues’ greatest European outings.
The next leg will take place on Thursday February 24 at Ibrox.
Dortmund will be hoping that Erling Haaland is fit to return by then.

“It is a very good result for us against a quality team, a big team in Europe so you know we wanted to take a result back to us to Glasgow to get a good game next week.
“I think we achieved that with a two goal difference we take back and I’m really proud of the performance the players have shown today.
“We also know that we are only half way and there’s still one game to be played but to come here and score four away goals in Europe, I think it’s a very good achievement so I’m more than happy with the result and especially the performance.”

“I’m really happy with the result. We know it’s only half way there so we can take the positives out of tonight.”
“We were obviously a bit disappointed to concede the two goals because we put ourselves in a really good position but overall I thought we controlled the best we can, limiting them with chances and I thought we were really effective on the break and we got the goals so I’m really happy.”

Borussia Dortmund did have positive spells throughout the game, particularly in the opening stages.
However, they were completely dominated by their opposition after the first goal.
BVB lacked efficiency in front of the target and certainly missed Haaland, but the young star could return for the reverse fixture at Ibrox next week.

Goals from Morelos, Tavernier and Lundstram have given the Light Blues the advantage going into the second leg at Ibrox.
Despite being forced onto the back foot during the early stages of the game Rangers came back to score two decisive goals just before half time.
They went on to dominate the rest of the 90 minutes.
