Eventual winners of the transfer race, Barcelona, and Chelsea were keen on the 2021 Ballon d’Or runner-up.

And according to Sport 1, Bayern had hoped Lewandowski would go to play his football at Stamford Bridge instead of the Camp Nou so they could try and land German Havertz.

Sport 1 chief reporter Kerry Hau revealed: “We heard that Bayern would have preferred to put Lewandowski at Chelsea to bring Havertz to Munich.”

Lewandowski was eventually granted his dream move to Barca and Bayern instead signed Liverpool’s Sadio Mane, who has hit the ground running.
