LAST night’s Champions League clash between Atletico Madrid and Porto ended with THREE added-time goals for the second time in a year.
It was all square at 0-0 as the 90th minute struck at the Metropolitano Stadium.
But the gears quickly shifted when Mario Hermoso broke the deadlock to put Atletico Madrid 1-0 up in the first minute of extra time.
Porto quickly responded as Mateus Uribe netted a penalty to level the score in the 96th minute.
And just as both teams anticipated that the points would be shared, Antoine Griezman fired home a last-gasp winner to secure the win for Diego Simeone’s side in spectacular style.
Last night’s action-packed thriller marked just the second game in Champions League history to see three goals scored after the 90th minute – excluding extra-time.

Coincidentally, the first occurrence of this came during last year’s group stage clash… between Porto and Atletico Madrid.
That match, which took place in December 2021, was also won by Simeone’s team.
Atletico were sailing towards a 1-0 victory when Angel Correa scored in the 90th minute to double the advantage.
Two minutes later, midfielder Rodrigo De Paul netted to give his side a 3-0 lead.

And as the 96th minute struck, Porto’s Sergio Oliveira scored a penalty to make the score 3-1, but it was too little too late.
After progressing past the Champions League group stages last season, Atletico Madrid were knocked out of the competition by Manchester City in the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, Porto were demoted to the Europa League.
It’s still all to play for in the competition this season with five more group games scheduled.
Atletico Madrid currently sit at the top of Group B level on points with Club Brugge.
Porto sit in third with no points along with Bayer Leverkusen.
