Mick Schumacher ‘to be left WITHOUT F1 drive in 2023… with Haas set to sign Nico Hulkenberg’

MICK SCHUMACHER, son of seven-time world champion Michael, will reportedly be left without a seat in Formula One with Haas set to replace the German with Nico Hulkenberg.

The 23-year-old has struggled in F1, only registering 12 points this season.

According to German publication Bild, Schumacher will be without a seat in F1 next season as it stands.

Schumacher has a contract with Ferrari but that comes to an end this December and there is no chance he will unseat settled duo Charles Leclerc or Carlos Sainz.

And Haas, where the son of F1 legend Michael has been racing for the past two years, is looking elsewhere ahead of the 2023 season.

Haas are poised to bring back Hulkenberg to race alongside Kevin Magnussen.

The signing of Hulkenberg’s contract will reportedly take place this Tuesday if everything goes smoothly and an official announcement is expected on Wednesday.

Hulkenberg made his F1 debut in 2010 for Williams and had stints at Force India Sauber, Renault and Racing Point.

Gunther Steiner, Haas boss, said: “We just have to work out the details of how we are going to do what we are going to do.”

Current Aston Martin reserves driver Hulkenberg’s arrival means Schumacher’s final F1 race could be in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

It would see the German depart alongside pal and four-time F1 champ Sebastian Vettel.

Vettel is retiring but hasn’t ruled out a return to F1.

He said: “I can’t. I don’t know how I will be in a year or two.

“But I hope that in two years’ time I will still be saying: ‘No thanks, I don’t need to race again’.”
