McLaren to pay touching tribute to F1 legend Ayrton Senna by etching his name on side of their cars as mark of respect

AYRTON SENNA’S name will permanently feature on McLaren’s F1 cars as a mark of respect to the three-time world champion.

The Brazilian won three titles while driving for the Woking-based team before switching to Williams.

Senna tragically died following a crash at Imola in 1994 driving for Williams, who used to carry his logo on their cars up until the start of this year.

McLaren have now taken on the duty to pay tribute to one of the greatest drivers the sport has ever seen.

CEO of McLaren Racing Zak Brown said: “Starting from the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix, the McLaren MCL36 will carry the Senna logo, marking our commitment to celebrate his legacy.

“I can’t think of a better race than the Monaco Grand Prix to commence this recognition of Ayrton’s life.
