JOSH TAYLOR has revealed he has put his honeymoon on hold to start training for his next fight.
The Scots boxer was planning to jet off on a sunshine break to Greece with new wife Danielle Murphy after getting married earlier this month.
The couple tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at Kinmount House near Annan, Dumfriesshire, surrounded by around 200 family and friends.
However, the light-welterweight champion of the world was told by his promoters Top Rank they are lining up a bout for him in September.
The 31-year-old decided to postpone the honeymoon to get fit for the fight but insisted Danielle was still “the happiest woman alive.” He said: “The wedding was just 10 days ago so it’s been a bit of a whirlwind.
“Since we have been back home people have been coming over and dropping off wedding gifts and things like that so it’s been pretty cool.
“We were going to get away but Top Rank have said there will maybe be a fight in September so I just said ‘We will just put it on the back burner. Back to business.'”
Josh, from Prestonpans, East Lothian, got together with Danielle 12 years ago and he proposed aboard a luxury boat in Dubai in 2020.
Speaking to BBC Radio Five Live’s boxing podcast about the wedding, he said: “It was fantastic, we had a great weekend.
“Friday was a get together with both families getting to know each other and then the Saturday was the wedding which was amazing.
“We had the weather too which is unusual in bonnie Scotland.
“It was a real happy time for myself and my new wife and she is just the happiest woman alive.”
Josh was crowned the undisputed light-welterweight champion of the world after his win over American opponent Jose Ramirez in Las Vegas in May last year.
The victory meant he became the first British fighter to claim the WBO, WBA, IBF and WBC titles simultaneously since the four-belt era officially began in 2004.
In February he controversially won a bout on points against Englishman Jack Catterall despite many observers believing his opponent was the better fighter.

Since beating Catterall, Josh has vacated the WBA title after insisting his wedding meant he could not fulfil a mandatory fight against Alberto Puello.
He is expected to fight US boxer Jose Zepeda in September before a potential rematch with Catterall.
