And his flawless 50-0 professional record backs that up.

But Khan, 35, who retired after being stopped by Brit rival Kell Brook earlier this year, reckons he’d have Money Mayweather.

Admitting that his opinion was a controversial one, he told Gary Neville’s The Overlap on Mayweather, 45: “You know what? I’d beat him. Honestly, I’d beat him.

“If I was in my prime and he was in his prime I’m very confident.

“I’m going to get a lot of hate for that, I’m sorry guys but you have to believe in yourself and that’s one thing I’ve always done throughout my career.”

Khan revealed that his lighting speed and movement would be the difference between the two fighters if they fought.

And although Khan said it would be “like a game of chess” if they fought, the Bolton-born star is firm in the belief that he would come out on top.

He added: “I think stylistically when Mayweather was a lot younger he had a lot of speed, a lot of movement.

“But I feel that my speed would have beaten his speed, my movement would have beaten his movement and he really wasn’t the biggest puncher in the game so it would have been like a game of chess but I would have outboxed him.”

Khan lost six out of his 40 fights as a pro.

But back in 2014-15, the Brit did all he could to secure a fight against Money, only for Mayweather to Marcos Maidana and Andre Berto instead.

Rumours the pair were set to fight in an exhibition were shot down by Mayweather earlier this summer.

The pair of bumped into each other in May and Khan later claimed Mayweather tried to talk him out of retirement for a fight.

Instead Mayweather is set to face MMA fighter and popular YouTuber Mikuru Asakura later this month.
