TEARY-EYED Harry Kane waved to Spurs fans as he took a lonely lap of honour in their final home game of the season.
Ryan Mason’s side fell 2-1 to Aston Villa after two horror errors from Sergio Reguilon.
But after the full-time whistle – and in front of fans for the first time in months – captain Kane looked visibly emotional and appeared to be holding back tears as he applauded and waved to supporters.
This week Kane, 27, has made it clear to the club’s hierarchy that he wishes to leave in search of major trophies.
Man City, Manchester United and Chelsea are all hot on the trail of one of the world’s top strikers.
Kane’s lap may well have been a simple thank you for Tottenham fans’ support this season.
But it may have been a farewell in what could be a final home game for Kane in Tottenham colours.
Interim boss Ryan Mason claimed Kane’s lap and waves were ‘normal’.
He said after the game: “It’s normal. If anyone has been at the last home game of the season while Harry Kane has played at this football club, he has been pretty consistent in going around the pitch, clapping the fans and getting a good reaction.
“Nothing has changed this season to home games in previous seasons, it’s normal.”
Mason added: “It is not where we want to be, it’s no secret, we have said that, everyone has said that.
“It has been a disappointing campaign, but we have to try and get a positive result at the weekend and see what happens from there.”
All the Spurs players – including Kane – later remerged on the pitch to conduct an unplanned lap of honour to try and appease angry fans.
The players had been booed off at full-time.
As SunSport revealed earlier on Wednesday, the two Manchester clubs are willing to offer Kane £80MILLION in wages to tempt him away from Spurs.
The Premier League top two are chasing the £150m-rated England striker after he told Spurs he wants to leave this summer.
They are both prepared to hand him a five-year contract with a £300,000-a-week basic salary — £70k up on his Tottenham deal, which still has three years to run.
Chelsea are also in the hunt for Kane, 27, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has placed a massive price tag on the Prem’s 22-goal top scorer.
And it is understood the battle for Kane’s signature is set to be a straight fight between the two Manchester rivals, who believe they offer him the best chance to win trophies.
Newly-crowned champions Man City are thought to be his preferred destination.
