BREST goalkeeper Gautier Larsonneur nearly produced a stunning moment of madness… by smacking the ball against his own post and crossbar.
The Frenchman was between the sticks for the Ligue 1 side as they took on OGC Nice at Stade Francis-Le Ble.
Larsonneur got his feet muddled up
The Brest keeper endured a heart in mouth moment
His side got off to a great start, leading 2-0 after 28 minutes.
But barely five minutes later, Larsonneur almost gave Nice a lifeline in truly bizarre fashion.
Everything seemed fairly innocuous, when midfielder Paul Lasne passed the ball back to his keeper in the 35th minute.
Under little pressure, however, the 23-year-old took a dodgy first touch.
Desperate to prevent the ball going out for a corner, Larsonneur took a wild lash at the ball with his right foot.
And to his horror, rather than out to his full-back, or even safely out of play, the ball spun towards his own goal.
In a heart-in-mouth moment, the ball struck the crossbar, before quickly ricocheting onto the post.

Luckily for Larsonneur, his defender was able to bail him out, thwarting the bewildered opposition striker and helping the ball into the goalkeeper’s hands.
Larsonneur could see the funny side, wearing a wry smile as he subsequently bowled the ball out.
Brest went on to win the match 2-0, staying above Nice in the process and rising to tenth.
