Tottenham ‘face huge fee if they sack Jose Mourinho with NO break clause in struggling manager’s contract’

JOSE MOURINHO would reportedly be entitled to a significant payout if he was sacked by Tottenham with no break clause in his contract.

The Athletic claims the Portuguese’s deal, which runs until the summer of 2023, has no exit option for either side.

The report adds that Daniel Levy is not considering replacing Mourinho with the absence of a break clause an indication of their long-term plans together.

The Special One — who is among the highest-earning managers in football — would command a huge fee should the club change its mind.

SunSport previously revealed that Mourinho is raking in £15million as the second highest-paid boss in the country behind Pep Guardiola.

The 58-year-old signed a three-and-a-half-year deal to replace Mauricio Pochettino that is worth the same as his contract at Manchester United.

Mourinho has also been heavily backed in the transfer market and is set to be trusted to turn Tottenham’s recent fortunes around.

Spurs’ 3-0 loss by Manchester City on Sunday was a fourth defeat in their last five Premier League games.

During that dismal run, the north Londoners have also been knocked out of the FA Cup by Everton to leave fans questioning Mourinho’s future.

By contrast, Spurs were top of the table in the middle of December but the City defeat leaves Mourinho’s side slumped at ninth.
