DANIEL STURRIDGE is still without a club after leaving Trabzonspor last year, despite boasting 77 Premier League goals and two Champions League medals to his name.
And the former Liverpool star isn’t the only talented player currently without a contract.
In fact, Transfermarkt values suggest that there are 13 free agents that would currently be worth at least a seven-figure fee.
They reckon that the most valuable current free agent is Brazilian attacker Alex Teixeira – worth £6.3million.
The talented star, 31, snubbed interest from Liverpool to move to Jiangsu Suning from Shakhtar in 2016, and capped off his time in China by winning the CSL title last season.
He has been without a club since his contract expired at the end of 2020, however, with Jiangsu unfortunately subsequently folding.
With 73 goals and 43 assists during his time in China, Teixeira could be a useful acquisition on the cheap for an ambitious side.
Diego Costa is also a free agent, having not found a new club after being let go by Atletico Madrid mid-season.
The 32-year-old former Chelsea star may bring some baggage, but did score two goals in seven LaLiga appearances earlier this term.
If fresh, fit and motivated, the Spain international could be very useful for a potential suitor – hence his valuation of £5.4m.

Former Leicester winger Ahmed Musa didn’t have the best time at the King Power Stadium.
But the livewire still boasts decent pedigree, having scored at two World Cups – including a brace against Lionel Messi’s Argentina.
The 28-year-old last played for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.
Transfermarkt have Musa valued at £3.6m – level with 31-year-old former Montpellier Ligue 1 title winner Younes Belhanda.
The playmaker scored eight times this season for Galatasaray, but had his contract terminated last month by the Turkish giants.
Midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has decent pedigree, having made 140 LaLiga appearances across spells with Villarreal, Espanyol and Deportivo Alaves, as well as winning 54 caps for Ghana and briefly turning out for Celtic.
But following Jiangsu’s closure, he finds himself without a team at just 30, having played for the Chinese champions last season.
Daniel Sturridge is rated at £1.8m, the same as former Rostov, CSKA Moscow and Udinese attacking midfielder Roman Eremenko – as well as 29-year-old former Inter Milan and Southampton flop Saphir Taider.
Left-back Konstantin Rausch, 31, who has won nine caps for Russia, is available having left Dynamo Moscow in December.
And a couple of former Premier League stars are valued at just £1.35m.
Ex-Chelsea Champions League winner Ramires, a former team-mate of Teixeira at Jiangsu between 2016 and 2019, left Palmeiras in November – and at 34 could offer a team an experienced option.
Wilfried Bony’s career has taken a downward turn since his £28m move to Manchester City in 2014.
He returned to Swans two years later, but underwhelmed in his second spell at the Liberty.
Bony, now 32, was last seen in British football training with League Two Newport County in 2019, before joining Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia.
He played in the Middle East for ten months, and has been a free agent since November.
Ex-Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic and Norwegian winger Gustav Wikheim round off the list.
