Sergio Aguero wanted by four European giants as Juventus and Inter Milan join transfer battle for Man City hero

ITALIAN giants Juventus and Inter Milan have joined the battle for Manchester City superstar Sergio Aguero.

The Argentine striker has already spoken with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid about a possible move this summer.

But now the added interest from Serie A has increased the pressure on City to make a decision on the future of their all-time record goalscorer.

His current £250,000-a-week contract expires at the end of the season and no talks have yet taken place about a new deal.

The Premier League leaders are reluctant to commit themselves until Aguero has proved that he has fully recovered from coronavirus and a lingering knee problem.

Aguero, 32, has not started a game in four months and hasn’t scored a single Premier League goal since January 2020.

But that hasn’t deterred some of Europe’s biggest clubs in pursuing one of the modern game’s most prolific strikers who has scored 256 goals in 379 games for City.

And the fact that he could join them as a free agent has only added to his appeal.

It is understood that Aguero’s preferred option would be to extend his stay at City, who paid £35million to buy him from Atletico back in 2011.

But he is currently weighing up all his alternatives and is desperate to get his career back on track for the title run-in.

He has been an unused sub for City’s last three games and manager Pep Guardiola says: “I am looking forward to putting him in the side but we cannot forget that he was a long time out and he needs to get his rhythm back.

“I always have doubts about Sergio’s physical condition because he was injured for a year. I want to be sure for him and for us.

“But I will play him as soon as I can because he deserves it and I want it, so I say to him to keep working because your time is coming.”
