Roy Keane says Harry Kane must LEAVE Tottenham this summer ‘to win big prizes’ as Man Utd and Real Madrid eye transfer

ROY KEANE believes Harry Kane has to LEAVE Tottenham this summer if he wants ‘to win big prizes’ amid links with Manchester United and Real Madrid.

Kane, 27, is yet to win a single piece of silverware with Spurs.

That could end if Jose Mourinho’s men beat Pep Guardiola’s quadruple-chasing Manchester City in next month’s Carabao Cup final.

But the chances of Tottenham winning a major trophy in the near future look slim following some dismal performances in the Premier League and Europe.

Kane’s north London contract runs until 2024 and he is reportedly valued at £150million by Spurs.

However, that has not put off some of Europe’s top clubs who believe Tottenham’s dusty trophy cabinet could play a factor in Kane’s future thinking.

And one man who is adamant the hitman must move on for the sake of his career is United legend Keane.

He feels Kane must start winning silverware to confirm his status as one of the world’s best strikers.

And that will be easier to achieve at a new club regularly challenging for trophies, with Kane himself refusing to commit to Spurs on Saturday.

Man City are reported to be interested, as are Spanish giants Real Madrid.

And Keane’s former club United are also known to be keen admirers as they hunt for a new No9 to fire them to glory under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Speaking after Kane fired England to a 2-0 win in Sunday’s World Cup 2022 qualifier against Albania, Keane said on ITV: “He’s a professional.

“If you’re a top player, you want to win trophies. It’s a big few months coming up for Tottenham, the League Cup final.

“Can they get in the top four? Huge question marks. Will that influence him?

“He’s obviously under contract, Tottenham will have a lot to say about it.

“But if you’re in his shoes and it comes to the summer, I think the guy has to move on to really win the big prizes.

“He’s not going to do it at Tottenham. He wouldn’t be the first player to sign a contract and then want to leave a year or so later.

“Mourinho might have to say, ‘he keeps making these noises, let’s take the money and move on’.”

Fellow pundit and former England left-back Ashley Cole agreed with Keane, adding: “Every time I hear [Kane] speak about Spurs, he seems happy.

“But under the surface he wants to win as well. Will he win at Tottenham? I don’t think so.

“It’s going to be interesting for him, whether he stays or goes, but it’s going to be a very, very big decision for him.”
