Romelu Lukaku ‘to undergo Chelsea medical in Belgium on Sunday and then travel to London’ after sealing £97.5m transfer

ROMELU LUKAKU will reportedly undergo his Chelsea medical in Belgium on Sunday.

The Athletic claims that the Inter Milan striker will then travel to London tomorrow night to finalise his £97.5million return to Stamford Bridge.

The report adds that the Belgian star, 28, didn’t plan to leave Inter just months after helping the club win their first Serie A crown since 2010.

SunSport exclusively revealed Lukaku feels he has unfinished business at Chelsea after struggling to break into the Blues team as a youngster between 2011 and 2014.

His agent Fede Pastorello told fans this week the inner workings of the deal taking him to the west Londoners will be revealed soon.

Taking to Instagram, Pastorello wrote: “You will hear our reasons soon, however it turns out.”

Lukaku – like former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte before him – is believed to be angered by the direction of the Inter board and then asked to leave.

The forward had turned down an approach from Manchester City towards the end of last season because he was so settled in Milan.

But once Inter informed the squad budgets would be cut and they would sell rather than strengthen the squad, the ex-United star’s position began to change.

And Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has agreed to splash out the biggest fee he has ever paid after Thomas Tuchel made it clear his side needed a top-class striker.

Lukaku has agreed a £200,000-a-week contract to make the switch back to Stamford Bridge for the second time in his career.

The Belgian had previously been on the books of the Blues between 2011 and 2014, between the ages of 18 and 21.

The Atheltic report that Chelsea were determined to get the deal done in enough time for the opening day Premier League clash with Crystal Palace.
