REAL MADRID defender Raphael Varane wants to complete the move to Manchester United this summer, according to reports.
The 28-year-old French international joined the Spanish giants from Lens way back in 2011 for the price of £8.5million.
He has played 360 times for Real Madrid, winning three LaLiga titles and four Champions Leagues.
But according to The Independent, Varane now wants away from the Spanish capital as Real prepare to go through a period of transition.
However, the major hurdle facing Man Utd is the centre-back’s huge wage demands.
He is reportedly holding out for an astronomical figure of £400,000 per week.
That would make him the highest paid player at Old Trafford, eclipsing keeper David de Gea.
De Gea, 30, is currently on a £375,000 a week contract at United, a salary which works out as £19.5m per year.
Meanwhile, Varane could become the joint-highest earner at United if midfielder Paul Pogba agrees to the terms being offered to him by the club.
The France star, 28, is going into the final 12 months of his contract and United are also willing to offer him a staggering £400,000 a week over the next five years.

The Red Devils are desperate to keep midfielder Pogba and do not want to go into the new season without having him tied down.
Old Trafford chiefs are now set to put the bumper new terms on the table in a deal said to be worth £104m.
United will wait until after Pogba finishes the Euros with France before finalising the structure of his new terms.
