RANGERS star Jermain Defoe has splashed out £300,000 on a flat weeks after getting engaged.
The 39-year-old snapped up what is believed to be his first property north of the border just outside Glasgow following his proposal to girlfriend Donna Tierney.
The ace’s pad in Bothwell, Lanarkshire, is less than 12 miles from Rangers’ Ibrox stadium.
It comes after Defoe signed a new player-coach deal in June before popping the question to Glasgow beauty therapist Donna, 39, in August.
A source told Scottish Sun: “Jermain has been in Scotland for a few years now and doesn’t appear to have put down roots before.
“Now he has signed a new contract with Rangers, proposed to his girlfriend and has bought a flat near his club’s home turf.
“Fans will be hoping he plans to stay on in the city — and at Ibrox — for a long time.”
Defoe has made 52 appearances since signing for Gers in 2019.
Mum Donna last week posted an Instagram snap revealing preparations for their big day are already underway.
She wrote: “Wedding planning.”
