NEWCASTLE’S Miguel Almiron hinted at a summer move by saying he wants to play for a team ‘that fights more’.

Steve Bruce’s side sit a place and two points above Fulham in 18th but are favourites for the drop after two wins in 18.

Relegation could see the Magpies forced to sell prized assets Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin and Almiron.

The Paraguayan forward’s contract expires in 2024, but last November his agent set out a possible June exit.

Speaking to a Paraguayan radio station, the £20.7m signing from Atlanta United said he was ‘happy and comfortable’ on Tyneside.

But he added: “I would like to play in a team that fights more.

“It’s a difficult moment for us. It’s the first time something like this is happening to me (relegation race).

“We need to be together and calm and to help the team to stay up in the Premier League.”

Almiron, 27, was due to meet up with his national side for World Cup qualifiers but they were postponed due to a rise in Covid cases in South America.
