MANCHESTER UNITED star Nemanja Matic has hailed his manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for showing ‘we respect our supporters’ by confronting angry protesters this week.
A group of fuming fans stormed Carrington on Thursday morning, in protest at the club’s decision to break away as part of the European Super League.
The fans brought banners with them, featuring anti-board messages including ‘Glazers Out’ and ’51 % MUFC 20′.
Matic and Solskjaer, as well as ex-players Michael Carrick and Darren Fletcher confronted the angry supporters.
And the Serbian, 32, believes that the incident is a ‘positive thing.
He told Sky Sports: “We saw the fans here in our training ground and that was very nice from our manager to decide to go out and speak to them.
“With that gesture he showed that us as a club we respect our supporters, we respect their opinions.
“He just went outside to speak to them and that was a positive thing.
“They shared their opinions with us, of course we understand them and all the players are really focused on our job.
“I hope what’s happened with this Super League is behind us and we can now focus on the Premier League and Europa League.”

Fans questioned Solskjaer as to how he could ever trust the club’s co-chairman Joel Glazer ever again.
But the Norwegian jumped to his boss’ defence saying ‘Joel loves this club’.
It was a statement met with derision, with a number of protesters firing back saying ‘he doesn’t love this club he loves the money’.
Matic opened up on how the players received the ESL news.
We all share the same opinion, we are with our supporters that it was a better decision for football that we don’t go to that Super League

He said: “First, the information came to us was on Sunday after the game (against Burnley).
“What I can say on behalf of all players is we are happy all clubs listened to supporters, to the fans, and this was a victory for football.
“We all share the same opinion, we are with our supporters that it was a better decision for football that we don’t go to that Super League. That’s all I can say because I didn’t know much about the Super League.”
