Man Utd wantaway keeper Sergio Romero ‘says goodbyes to team-mates’ ahead of Boca Juniors transfer

MANCHESTER UNITED’S wantaway keeper Sergio Romero is reportedly nearing a move to Boca Juniors.

Romero has yet to make a match day squad for United after losing the No2 position to Dean Henderson, who returned to the club after two seasons on loan at Sheffield United.

The 33-year-old, who is out of contract this summer, is expected to end his six-year stint with the Red Devils in this month’s transfer window.

Romero has been training in Argentina and local reports in Buenos Aires claim he is keeping fit in the Argentinian capital ahead of a move to Boca.

He has not featured for United since their Europa League quarter-final win over Copenhagen on August 10

Romero was left disappointed in the summer when United nixed his loan move to Everton as they did not want to strengthen a direct rival.

That led to his wife Eliana slamming the Red Devils for showing her man a lack of respect.

However, Romero is expected to be granted his wish this time around and attracted interest from both Brighton and the MLS.

But a return to his homeland could prove the most tempting with Boca also in talks to sign his compatriot and United pal Marcos Rojo.

SunSport previously reported that the defender has agreed a two-year deal to link up with Carlos Tevez and Co.

The Argentine giants are hoping to sign him for nothing as he approaches the final six months of his contract.

United do have the option of extending his £100,000-a-week contract by a further year.
