The Dutch get their Group C campaign underway against Ukraine on Sunday before taking on Austria and North Macedonia.
Van de Beek’s injury is a miserable end to a disappointing season.
He made his £39million transfer from Ajax to Old Trafford last summer but has struggled in England.
Unable to dislodge Bruno Fernandes out of the United No10 spot and less suited to a defensive midfield role, Van de Beek made just 19 Premier League appearances – four as a starter.
His only goal came in the defeat on the opening day of the season against Crystal Palace and the one assist was at home to Burnley in April.
He was linked with an exit – to Jose Mourinho’s Roma or a return to Ajax – but SunSport understands the Red Devils will reject any approaches.
