Man Utd legend Wayne Rooney to host former team-mates and Class of 92 legends as Derby draw Salford in Carabao Cup


MANCHESTER UNITED legend Wayne Rooney will be reunited with former team-mates next season after his Derby side were drawn against the Class of 92’s Salford City in the Carabao Cup.

Former Red Devils Phil Neville, Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, David Beckham and Nicky Butt all own shares in the League Two outfit.

And Salford will travel to Pride Park in the first round of the Carabao Cup after being drawn against Championship outfit Derby.

Rooney guided the Rams to safety on the final day of last season.

And he is sure to be eager to test himself against an impressive Salford outfit led by Gary Bowyer.

Meanwhile, there are a host of other tasty draws up and down the country.

The North draw sees Sheffield Wednesday host Huddersfield, with Middlesbrough travelling to Blackpool.

Bolton Wanderers host Barnsley, who are without a boss after Valerian Ismael today took the West Brom job.

And Nottingham Forest are at home to Bradford City.

In the South draw, Reading host Championship play-off final runners-up Swansea.
