BENJAMIN MENDY is reportedly wanted by Inter Milan in their bid to retain the Serie A title next season.
The Frenchman’s career has been hampered with injuries since he joined Manchester City in in 2017 from Monaco.
Mendy’s failure to live up-to his £49.3million price tag has seen him ostracised at The Eithad.
During his tenure, the defender made a total of 49 starts, getting two goals and providing nine assists along the way.
But Inter are prepared to look past his turbulent City career and offer the 26-year-old left-back a life-line, according to Manchester Evening News.
After nicking the Scudetto from Juventus for the first time in nine years, Inter are on the prowl for new recruits.
Simone Inzaghi’s cruised to the title 13 points clear of fourth-placed Juve and want to keep it that way next season.
And Inzaghi reckons Mendy’s the right man to help plug any holes in his back four.
Inter are in financial chaos at the moment and will be unable to pay a large sum for the defender.
Despite this gripe, MEN also claim City are still open to do a deal with the Italian giants although it’s unlikely they’ll their unlikely to recoup the bulk of his hefty transfer fee.

Pep Guardiola is wasting no time and it’s been alleged that he’s already lined up three potential replacements for the ex-Marseille star.
The Spaniard allegedly has his eyes on crocked Italian ace Leonardo Spinazzola, German star Robin Gosens and Denmark ace Joakim Maehle.
The trio have all shone during Euro 2020 but Guardiola could be forced to re-consider his Spinazzola interest after he ruptured an Achilles tendon in the competition.
The 28-year-old suffered the serious injury in his country’s 2-1 victory against Belgium at the Euro’s and will miss the rest of the tournament.
But after undergoing successful surgery, the Roma ace will hopefully be back in action in six months if Guardiola can wait that long.
