MANCHESTER CITY are chasing a transfer for Fluminense wonderkid Metinho, according to reports.
The 18-year-old has been the ‘Brazilian Paul Pogba’ by some for his broad range of talent in midfield.
He has a strong shot, excellent passing and is physically impressive – and the rising star is being tipped for big things.
And according to Goal, City want to secure his signature as soon as possible for £4.3million – especially with reported competition from Arsenal.
If a deal is completed this year, Metinho would likely be loaned to Troyes, City’s sister club in France.
Born in DR Congo, he emigrated to Brazil aged one with his father Abel who dreamed of his son playing for the Selecao.
He joined Fluminense as a child and progressed through the ranks before earning his first senior national team call-up in November to train with the likes of Neymar and Co.
Metinho captained Fluminense’s Under-17s to Brasileirao trophy glory and the Copa do Brasil final in 2020.
And he was rewarded with a first-team debut – his only senior appearance to date – in March.
Metinho is the latest in a string of footballers to develop in the Xerem neighbourhood of Duque de Caxias in Rio de Janiero.

Marcelo, Thiago Silva and Fabinho came through from that region, as did Metinho’s Fluminense pal Kayky.
The 17-year-old ‘next Neymar’ agreed a deal in April to join City for £9m at the end of the Brazilian season.
