BRENDAN RODGERS is vowing to end Leicester’s long wait for FA Cup glory.
And if he wins at Wembley, the Foxes boss will dedicate it to the club’s late owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and his family.
The FA Cup has proved elusive for four-time finalists Leicester, who hold the record for reaching the most finals without winning it.
They face Chelsea tomorrow in their first final appearance in 52 years, when Peter Shilton and Co were beaten 1-0 by Manchester City.
Rodgers said: “When I arrived here I didn’t know they had never won the Cup before.
“You get the sense of how important it is to the supporters. This is a community club where the FA Cup is such a prestigious competition for so many fans.
“There is a story of a guy who went to Wembley on his bike and then couldn’t get back because someone stole his bike!
“These things are all part of our great history. That’s why we hope we can be the first and write our history here.
“If we can do so then it might be the start of more FA Cups.”
Should Rodgers end the curse, he will be proud to deliver the trophy to Vichai’s son ‘Top’.
He has faithfully carried on the legacy of his father, who was killed along with four others in a helicopter crash at the King Power stadium in October 2018.
Rodgers added: “I’d love to win it for Khun Vichai and his family. His spirit and presence will be there with us.
“Having Top over this week has really magnified one of the reasons I came here. It was because of them and the cause Leicester City has.
“Of course, I’d love to do it for the players, I’d love to do it for the supporters — but if I had to pin one, it would be for Top and his family. That would be truly special.”
Jonny Evans is winning his fitness race after missing the Newcastle and Manchester United clashes with a damaged heel.
Rodgers said: “He’s a warrior and if there’s any way he can play — even if he’s not 100 per cent — he’ll be out there.”
