Inside Man Utd’s away dressing room after £20m revamp at Old Trafford with Glazers promising ‘much more investment’

MANCHESTER UNITED have unveiled new away dressing rooms after a £20milion revamp that the Glazers promise is just the start.

Old Trafford chiefs say a whole range of upgraded facilities are ON TOP of a £100m spree co-chairman Joel Glazer pledged at a fans’ forum in June.

Away teams used a temporary structure last season because of Covid-19 rules.

But now visitors have a larger changing room on the other side of the player tunnel.

Sky Sports showed in a video clip that the tunnel itself has improved media facilities, mainly for post-match interviews.

New provision for disabled supporters is also set to open soon, meaning hundreds more wheelchair spaces and amenity seats.

These are in the red and black concourse at the back of the Stretford End and other parts of the 76,000-capacity stadium.

On the pitch, most of the summer spending came on £73m England attacker Jadon Sancho and £42m France centre-back Raphael Varane.

But around the pitch investment will eventually surpass that double swoop.

Facilities at Carrington training ground will also be enhanced.

Work already done includes painting and cleaning the stands and cantilever girders and relaying the pitch, as well as installing new floodlights and barrier seating in J Stand.

Joel Glazer pledged to fans two months ago United would spend an additional £100m on longer-term projects.

That followed his promise of more co-operation and communication with supporters following United’s role in the much-criticised and failed European Super League bid.

He said: “Old Trafford is at the heart of Manchester United and while we have spent over £100m over the last 10 years on infrastructure projects, we will now accelerate the process of planning much more significant investment and upgrades to the stadium.

“These projects take time to plan and get right.

“But, rest assured, we will consult with supporters throughout the process to end up with a result we can all be proud of.”
