Humble Kante was late for Chelsea training as he stopped for pics with fans after being in car crash that damaged Mini

HUMBLE N’Golo Kante was once late for Chelsea training… because he stopped for pictures with fans after being in a CAR CRASH.

Former Blues star Cesc Fabregas told the Telegraph how ex-teammate Kante was the ultimate professional when the pair won a Premier League title and FA Cup together under Antonio Conte.

However, Kante once failed to meet his own high standards by turning up late to a morning meeting before a late kick-off.

The French World Cup winner’s absence was notable as he had never had previous time-keeping issues.

But when Kante finally turned up, he explained to Conte that he had been involved in a car crash while driving his beloved Mini.

The famous vehicle suffered some damage, including a broken wing mirror.

Kante also revealed he was then asked by some people if he could pose for photos with them.

They couldn’t believe it was the Chelsea star in the flesh.

And Kante, regarded as the nicest man in football, admitted he was too polite to say no!

Fabregas explained: “Everybody knows he is a really good human being.

“One day, we met in the morning, we were playing at night, and everyone was ‘where’s N’Golo, we’re starting the meeting’ and normally he was always on time.

“Eventually he arrived and everyone started clapping and Conte said ‘what’s happened?’

“And he was telling us that he’s had a car crash and some people couldn’t believe it was him and they were taking pictures and he wanted to be polite.

“His car was all damaged and the wing mirror had to be taped back on, but he still stopped for photos, even though it made him late!”

Despite his reputation as a good guy, Kante insisted last week that the ‘kind’ and ‘nice’ tags are ‘overblown’.

Kante said: “I am just a normal guy. There is now need to say I am the kindest or nicest.

“I am just a player like the others. I think that sometimes it is overblown.

“It does not need to be. There are other people like that in football.”
