How Man City could line up next season with Erling Haaland and Lionel Messi replacing Sergio Aguero

MANCHESTER CITY are set to take a fresh turn next season, following the news that Sergio Aguero will leave the club at the end of the current campaign.

The Argentine has scored a stunning 257 goals in 384 appearances during a glittering ten-year spell with the club.

But, alas, all good things must come to an end.

And City fans can at least console themselves with the star-studded shopping list that their team are rumoured to possess.

Pep Guardiola’s side, given their enormous wealth, are always linked with the world’s biggest names.

But should they secure this summer’s targets, including Erling Haaland and Lionel Messi, City will surely step into a different stratosphere altogether.

In Ederson, they already possess one of the world’s finest goalkeepers.

And their back four of Joao Cancelo, Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte and Oleksandr Zinchenko has brought back defensive solidity – with John Stones also deserving of an honourable mention.

For all their talent, it is further forward where they may seek to strengthen.

Rodri is currently the regular incumbent of the role as their deepest-lying midfielder.

But they have been linked with a move for Borussia Monchengladbach star Denis Zakaria, who could bring a new dimension to the midfield.

Kevin De Bruyne has at least another few years at the top, while Phil Foden is becoming the player that enthusiasts always felt he could be.

But City have been linked with another elegant left-footer, in the shape of Adrien Rabiot.

The Juventus star actually spent time at Eastlands as a kid, and could make a triumphant return as a superstar in the summer – should City beat Barcelona to his signature.

Guardiola already has an embarrassment of riches to choose from upfront, with Riyad Mahrez, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva, Ferran Torres and Gabriel Jesus to pick from.

But most of these options will have to be content with just a place on the bench, should City manage to sign BOTH Haaland and Messi, who would likely occupy the central striker and right wing slots in the team.
