Liverpool have reportedly made Turkey goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir a summer target – after he impressed while they scouting Erling Haaland.

Trabzonspor goalie Cakir, 24, was between the sticks for Turkey’s 3-0 win in Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Norway.

  • NO KANE DO

Arsene Wenger has told Harry Kane he can fulfil his ambition of winning trophies at Tottenham as he urged him to stay.

He told beIN Sports: “Tottenham are in a position where they can be ambitious and we should maybe not judge only today’s situation.

“Tottenham was top of the league in December. There were a few times when they were top of the league when I was still at Arsenal.

“He is the only one who can assess the situation. A player like that is always solicited by other clubs and always has to assess his situation.

“He was until now a real top leader at Tottenham. He’s a top leader in the English national team. I respect highly his commitment and his quality.

“What I like today is he could play basically as a number 10 because the quality of his assists and the speed of his vision, and the execution of his speed on long balls is exceptional.”

  • GDANSK ALL NIGHT

UEFA chiefs are ready to let travelling fans into the Champions League and Europa League finals.

And that is potentially great news for supporters of the five English teams left in Europe.

A meeting of Uefa’s ruling executive committee formally lifted the 30 per cent capacity cap on fans that was put in place in October, allowing local authorities the right to set stadium limits for the rest of this season.

Away fans remain banned for the remaining games in the last eight and semi-final stages of both competitions, which resume next week.
